Sembcorp and PetroVietnam collaborates to import electricity from Vietnam to Singapore

Sembcorp Utilities, a subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries Limited (Sembcorp) has partnered with Petrovietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) to jointly explore the feasibility of building new offshore wind facilities in Vietnam to export renewable energy to Singapore.

The two firms have received a letter of intent from the Energy Market Authority. Conditional approval is yet to be secured for the project which is expected to span 200,000 hectares of sea area across two sites off the shores of South Vietnam. PTSC is currently the only company to have obtained a permit from Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to undertake wind, marine and geological surveys.
