The People’s Committee in Vietnam’s northern Hai Phong City has approved Vietnam Electricity National Power Transmission (EVNNPT), a subsidiary of state utility Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), as the investor of a 500 kV substation project in the city, which involves a total investment of nearly VND617.2 billion.
Reportedly, Hai Phong has become the first locality to approve an investor for a power transmission project after the approval of the Power Development Plan VIII in May 2023. The substation, with a capacity of 1,800 MVA, will help meet the load demand in Hai Phong city; strengthen interconnections in the regional power system; ensure safe, reliable and stable operation of the regional and national power systems; reduce power loss; and increase EVN’s productivity.
