NTPC and UPRVUNL sign supplementary JV agreement for three TPPs

NTPC Limited has signed a supplementary joint venture (JV) agreement with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) for setting up three thermal power projects (TPPs) in the state.

The agreement was signed to an earlier agreement forged in February 2008 for the formation of a JV company Meja Urja Nigam Private Limited to take up development of three TPPs, subject to techno commercial viability and necessary clearance and power purchase agreement. The projects include Anpara E TPP Phase II, Obra D Ultra Supercritical TPP, and Meja TPP Phase II. The Anpara E and Obra D TPP will have a capacity of 1,600 MW (2×800 MW) each and Meja TPP project will have a capacity of 1,320 MW (2×660 MW).
