The Assam government has approved a Rs 51.97 billion project to upgrade the state’s power distribution infrastructure.
The project will be implemented under revamped distribution sector scheme. The project’s objective is to modernise Assam’s power distribution system and is slated for completion by March 31, 2026, benefiting approximately 6.7 million electrical consumers statewide. Additionally, the state government has decided to enter into a power purchase agreement for 100 MW of renewable energy at rates offered by the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited, facilitating Assam’s procurement of green power from sustainable sources.
