The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has issued a staff paper on grid security charge.
The paper discusses the measures for ensuring the adequacy of reserves and, in turn, the reliability of grid operation. It is proposed that the cost towards the reserves/ancillary services procurement by national and regional load dispatch centres (including the reserves procured in advance) should first be met out of the surplus available in the deviation settlement mechanism pool account. The CERC has sought comments and suggestions on the staff paper by October 16, 2023.
