Government constitutes standing technical committee to study issues in HEPs

The central government has constituted a standing technical committee to study the issues in the event of any geological surprise faced in hydroelectric projects (HEPs) and to vet/examine and recommend the additional time or cost involved.

Unforseen geological surprises have led to notable project delays and cost overruns, affecting the overall progress and effectiveness of these projects. The committee will prepare bi-annual reports for the Ministry of Power and has the flexibility to include additional members for specific projects when necessary.
