Madhya Pradesh government lays foundation stone for pumped storage project

The Madhya Pradesh government has laid the foundation stone of 1,440 MW pumped hydro storage project in Neemuch district of the state.

The project will be established by Greenko Group in village Khemla Tehsil Rampura of Neemuch district with an investment of around Rs 100 billion and will be operational by June 2025. The capacity of the project will be increased up to 1,920 MW. This will be India’s largest pumped hydro storage project. When completed, the project will be able to integrate over 7,000 MW of renewable capacity. This project is an off stream open loop project as it envisages the construction of new off stream reservoir known as the upper reservoir and the existing Gandhi Sagar Reservoir will be used as lower reservoir.
