Turbine installation completed at the first wind power project in Laos

The Government of Laos has installed the first 600 MW turbine in the Monsoon wind power project.

The 1,000-hectare wind farm will consist of 133 turbines, of which 110 will be installed in the Dakcheung district and 23 in the Sanxay district of Sekong province. The electricity generated by the facility will be sold under a 25-year contract. The turbines are expected to be installed and commence commercial operations by the end of 2025 across 25 villages in Laos and sell and export electricity to Vietnam. The installed turbine is 22 metres wide and 35 metres deep with a diameter of 171 metres. The project will improve the living standards and transport infrastructure which will facilitate access to farmland and remote villages.
