Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and Electricité de France (EDF) have formalised their collaboration through a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) to enhance the local content of the Jaitapur nuclear power plant (JNPP) project.
The project has a capacity of 9.6 GW and is located in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. The MoC enables exploration of opportunities for JNPP (6×1,650 MWe) which will be developed by Nuclear Power Corporation of India. Additionally, the partnership extends to broader collaborations involving european pressurised reactors and the NUWARD small modular reactor.
