FREE and PDDC secure solar energy, cooling system projects in the Philippines

Filinvest-ENGIE Renewable Energy Enterprise Incorporation (FREE) and Philippine DCS Development Corporation (PDDC) have secured four renewable energy projects, with a combined capacity of 13.68 MW, in the Philippines.

Of the total, 10.08 MW will be a ground-mounted solar array project in the City of Naga, Cebu. The project is scheduled for deployment in 2024 and will be governed by a 25-year power purchase agreement. This project is part of Cemex’s Future in Action program, which aims to cover 65 per cent of its electricity consumption with renewable energy by 2030. Additionally, Cemex Holdings and ENGIE have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore the implementation of various renewable energy solutions for Cemex’s facilities. FREE has also secured a contract with Nexperia to implement a more than 3 MW rooftop solar system for their facilities. Meanwhile, PDDC will develop a low-carbon centralised cooling system for Festival Supermall in Alabang, under a 20-year-long build, own, operate, and transfer contract. The works are scheduled to commence in 2025.
