Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is expected to acquire the Goindwal Sahib Power Project (Private) from GVK Power (Goindwal Sahib) Limited (GPGSL) for an amount of Rs 14 billion.
PSPCL emerged as the sole bidder for the same in July 2023. The Goindwal Sahib Power Project’s Unit I and II of 270 MW each achieved commercial operations on April 6, 2016 and April 16, 2016 respectively, however, GVK could not commence operations due to absence of coal linkage for the project. GPGSL, a unit of GVK Energy Limited, which in turn is the subsidiary of GVK Power and Infrastructure Limited, has implemented the coal based thermal power project at Goindwal Sahib in Tarn Taran district of Punjab at an investment of Rs 45.73 billion.
