Powergrid acquires two SPVs to implement transmission projects under TBCB route

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergroid) has acquired two special purpose vehicles (SPVs), namely Vataman Transmission Limited (VTL) and Koppal II Gadag II Transmission Limited (KIIGIITL), from Power Finance Corporation Consulting Limited.

The KIIGIITL is aimed at establishing a transmission system for the ‘Transmission Scheme for Integration of Renewable Energy Zone (Phase-II) in Koppal-II (Phase-A & B) and Gadag II (Phase-A) in Karnataka,’ operating on a build, own, operate, and transfer basis. The KIIGIITL project comprises establishment of a new 765/400 kV Koppal- II pooling station; a new 400/220 kV Gadag- II pooling station; two 765 kV D/C transmission lines traversing in the state of Karnataka; 400 kV D/C transmission line traversing in the state of Karnataka as well as associated bay extension works at Narendra and Raichur substations. The VTL is aimed at establishing a transmission system for ‘“Transmission system for evacuation of additional 7 GW of RE power from Khavda RE park under Phase III Part B’. Further, the VTL project comprises establishment of a new 765/400 kV switching station at Vataman in Ahmedabad district, three 765kV D/C transmission lines traversing in the state of Gujarat as well as extension works at Navsari and Halvad substations.
