JERA Co., Inc. (JERA) has started the operational activities of Unit 2 at the Yokosuka thermal power station, a coal-fired facility located in Kurihama, Kanagawa Prefecture.
The power station underwent an upgrade led by JERA Power Yokosuka G.K, replacing all existing units, and has now commenced commercial operations. Unit 2 is a high-efficiency coal-fired power station featuring an ultra-supercritical power generation system with a capacity of approximately 650 MW, designed to ensure a reliable electricity supply. JERA has initiated the operations of Unit 2 ahead of the initially scheduled date in February 2024, contributing to a stable power supply during the winter season.
