NHPC Limited has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL) for a substantial investment in the proposed 750 MW Kuppa pumped hydro storage project.
NHPC commits an estimated Rs 40 billion for the project, strategically located in Chhota Udaipur, Gujarat. The collaboration, formalised under the aegis of “Vibrant Gujarat”, aims to leverage pumped hydro storage projects as an efficient solution for energy storage, contributing to the national goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and a net zero target by 2070.
