BHEL receives order for 2,400 MW thermal power project in Odisha

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received a letter of award (LoA) of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) package for 2,400 MW (3×800) MW NLC Talabira thermal power project, Jharsuguda district, Odisha from NLC India Limited.

The contract  includes engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning of equipment such as boilers, turbine, generators, balance of plants, flue gas desulphurisation and selective catalytic reduction. The project is based on ultra super critical technology, and the entire power of 2,400 MW is tied up with Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Kerala and Puducherry, and power purchase agreements to this effect have already been executed. The first unit of this EPC project is scheduled to be commissioned in the financial year 2028-29. As a pit head thermal project, it is exepected to offer a competitive variable cost, ensuring NLC India’s role in providing cost-effective power to its beneficiaries.
