ENDE invests BOB2,081 million in electrical projects in Bolivia in 2023

Bolivia’s state-owned power utility company, Empresa Nacional de Electricidad Corporation (ENDE), announced that it had executed a budget of BOB2,081 million, representing 83.5 per cent utilisation for projects in electrical energy generation, transmission, and distribution.

The state electricity company also reported a net profit of BOB1,037 million in 2023. During the year, ENDE injected 208 MW of renewable energy into the Sistema Interconectado Nacional (SIN) or national interconnected system through wind and solar plants. ENDE completed important transmission line projects such as Camiri to the SIN and the Santa Cruz to Trinidad line, which reduced gas consumption and enhanced the Bolivian electrical system. Additionally, in 2023, electricity supply coverage reached 85.1 per cent in rural areas and 99.3 per cent in urban areas. Going forward, a BOB182 million transmission line project is planned, which would entail constructing a line connecting Los Troncos with San Ignacio in Santa Cruz.
