Vietnam’s EVNNPT signs loans worth VND15.6 trillion for 500 kV project

Vietnam Electricity National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), a subsidiary of state utility Vietnam Electricity (EVN), and five domestic banks have signed loan agreements worth over VND15.6 trillion for the implementation of the 500 kV Quang Trach–Pho Noi transmission line project.

It is a 513-km project, comprising four sections, namely, Quang Trach–Quynh Luu (226 km), Quynh Luu–Thanh Hoa (91 km), Thanh Hoa– Nam Dinh 1 thermal power plant (TPP) (73 km), and Nam Dinh 1 TPP–Pho Noi (123 km). The project, involving a total investment of VND22 trillion, is expected to help improve the stability and operation of the national power system, enhance power transmission from power sources in the north-central region to the load centre in the northern region, and reduce the risk of overload for existing 500 kV lines. The credit agreements signed with five domestic banks include the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) for over VND6.87 trillion to EVNNPT for the Quang Trach–Quynh Luu section; Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MBB) for nearly VND2.86 trillion for the Quynh Luu–Thanh Hoa line; a consortium between Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) and Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VIB) for VND2.04 trillion for the Nam Dinh 1 TPP–Thanh Hoa line; and Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) for nearly VND3.88 trillion for the Nam Dinh 1 TPP–Pho Noi line project.
