DOE proposes to develop 1,000 MW renewable energy projects in Negros

The Department of Energy (DOE) has announced plans to develop 1,000 MW renewable energy projects across Negros Occidental in the Philippines in the next 15 years by 2040.

The projects are divided into categories of committed and indicative power projects. Of the total, 155.6 MW worth of power projects are ready for implementation or already being implemented which include a biomass project in Victorias City, a geothermal project in Bago City, a solar project in Silay City, and battery energy storage (BESS) in Murcia and San Carlos City. Meanwhile, 1,231.7 MW of indicative power projects are those in the planning stage including solar projects in Victorias, Bacolod, Cadiz, Silay cities, and Calatrava town, wind project in Pulupandan, hydro project in Sagay City, and BESS project in Cadiz City.
