Kundan Green Energy has received a mandate to develop a greenfield hydropower plant at Okhali in Uttarakhand. The government has awarded the project to Kundan Green Energy in view of the company’s consistent demonstrated track record of executing hydropower projects with best-in-class standards within committed time-frames and yielding optimal results. Scheduled for completion in 2028, the project will generate 42 MW of power, with the potential to expand to 60 MW, significantly enhancing the state’s renewable energy generation capacity. Once commissioned, the Okhali project will increase Kundan Green Energy’s combined hydropower capacity to 270 MW from the current 104 MW, with an additional 24 MW under construction at Rally Chu in Sikkim. The Okhali project is part of the larger mandate to add a total of 80 MW through greenfield projects to Uttarakhand’s hydropower generation capacity at an investment of Rs 10 billion by Kundan Green Energy, per an agreement signed late last year.
