Reportedly, Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) has started commercial production of solar modules from its new plant in Tamil Nadu, with the solar cell production set to commence next month.
The new solar cell and module facility has produced about 130 MW of modules in the March 2024 quarter. After stabilising of operations within three months, the factory is expected to reach peak capacity of 4.3 GW in the subsequent quarter. Post this, it would start producing 100 per cent domestically manufactured cell and module. The modules produced in Tamil Nadu will be used to meet the captive requirements of the company initially.
