The Ministry of Power has issued the draft “Guidelines for Installation and Operation of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure-2024”.
The provisions of these guidelines shall be applicable to owners/operators of electric vehichle (EV) charging infrastructure installed in privately owned parking spaces, semi restricted places like office buildings, educational institutions, hospitals, group housing societies, e-bus depots and in public places like commercial complexes, railway stations, petrol pumps, etc. As per the draft, any individual / entity, willing to set up EV charging stations shall be free to do so, subject to compliance with provisions under these guidelines. The charge point operator may apply for electricity connection for EV charging stations with the respective distribution licensee. Further, distribution licensee/ discom shall create customer friendly online single window clearance system to expedite grant of electricity connections to EV chargers.
