South Korea’s Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) has announced the details of the compensation agreement for the East-5 section of its 500 kV HVDC East Coast─Singapyeong transmission line.
The larger project will facilitate the evacuation of 6.8 GW of power from various thermal plants, including Samcheok. The scope of work entails the construction of 225-km-long eastern and western sections, along with 440 transmission towers to be built across the area. Transmission lines are divided into 11 sections, including four sections (around 85 km) in the western section from Hoengseong to Hongcheon, Yangpyeong and Gapyeong, and seven (140 km) in the eastern section from Uljin to Samcheok, Bonghwa, Yeongwol, and Pyeongchang. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
