Oman’s OETC completes Al Jawabi grid station and associated works

Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) has completed a major infrastructure project aimed at improving the performance and reliability of the nation’s electricity transmission network.

The project involved the construction of the 132/33 kV Al Jawabi grid station and associated works, for which it released multiple tenders in 2023. The grid station took just over 18 months to be completed and included the installation of 132 kV over head lines (OHL) extending 30 km between the Jalan Bani Bu Ali grid station and the newly constructed Al Jawabi grid station; a 132 kV gas insulated substation (GIS) with two feeders for the 132 kV OHL and two feeders for the transformers with a capacity of 125 MVA; two 125 MVA transformers operating at 132/33 kV; two 33 kV GIS; control and protection panels operating at 132 and 33 kV; supervisory control and data acquisition systems; and grid station communication and monitoring systems. The project represented a substantial investment of OMR11.5 million.
