THDC India Limited has commenced the installation of the draft tube in Unit 1 of the Vishnugad Pipalkoti hydro electric project (HEP).
The draft tube is crucial for channeling water that has passed through the turbine blades back into the river, while maintaining pressure and enabling energy recovery. This installation is essential for optimising the overall performance and efficiency of the power generation process. The 444 MW hydroelectric project is located on the Alaknanda River, near Helong village in Uttarakhand.
