Powergrid secures bid for ISTS project on BOOT basis

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) has emerged as the successful bidder under tariff-based competitive bidding for two inter-state transmission systems (ISTS) aimed at facilitating the evacuation of power from renewable energy zones (REZ).

The first project focuses on the Khavda area of Gujarat under Phase IV (7 GW): Part B, which includes the establishment of a new 765/400/220 kV (GIS) substation at a suitable location near South of Olpad, along with 765 kV and 400 kV D/C transmission lines and associated bay extension works at existing substations in Gujarat. In addition, the company has also been awarded a project for the Rajasthan REZ Phase IV (Part 2: 5.5 GW) at the Jaisalmer/Barmer Complex: Part H1. This project entails the construction of a new 765/400/220 kV substation at Kurawar, as well as 765 kV and 400 kV D/C transmission lines and related bay extension works at existing substations in Madhya Pradesh. Both projects will be executed on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis.
