Reportedly. the West Bengal Cabinet has approved the construction of a 660 MW supercritical power plant in Sagardighi, Murshidabad.
This will be the first supercritical power plant in eastern India. The cabinet also approved plans for five additional power plants. In addition, a new 1,600 MW power plant will be established, and a global tender will be issued for this project. This will be the first time a power plant is being planned using a public-private partnership model.
