Power generation has grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6 per cent to reach 1,734 BUs in 2023-24 from 962 BUs in 2013-14. Thermal generation accounted for 76.5 per cent of the total generation in 2023-24, renewables accounted for 12.6 per cent and hydro accounted for 12.9 per cent, while nuclear accounted for 2.76 per cent.
The national plant load factor (PLF) of thermal power stations registered an increase from 65.6 per cent in 2013-14 to 69.1 in 2023-24.
