The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors has approved a USD250 million project aimed at expanding RES in Lebanon by restoring electricity grid ongoing reforms. The project will involve strengthening Lebanon’s state-owned Electricité du Liban (EDL) operational and commercial systems, as well as increasing grid-connected RES supply and reinforcing the network. The latter efforts will include the development of a grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) plant, rehabilitation of the Litani River Authority (LRA) hydropower plant, and rehabilitation and reinforcement of the EDL transmission network.
