The Department of Energy (DOE) of the Philippines has approved 19 energy projects for grid assessment through the national grid corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
These projects will undergo a system impact study to evaluate the grid’s ability to accommodate the new energy connections and determine necessary upgrades. Out of the approved projects, 17 focus on renewable energy, meanwhile, two involve waste-to-energy and battery energy storage systems. Key projects include Vortex Offshore Wind Corporation’s 1,000 MW offshore wind project in Mindoro, a 478.2 MWp solar project by North Luzon Green and Sustainable Energy Incorporation in Pangasinan, and a 425.3 MWp solar development by Tuy Solar Power Corporation in Batangas. Additional projects range from wind and solar developments across the country to BESS initiatives aimed at enhancing grid reliability.
