Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) has acquired Bikaner A Power Transmission Limited (BAPTL), a special purpose vehicle, to establish the “Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Rajasthan REZ Phase IV (Part-3: 6 GW) [Bikaner Complex]: Part A” on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis.
This acquisition was completed under a tariff-based competitive bidding process by REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL). The project entails setting up a new 765/400/220 kV Bikaner IV Pooling Substation with associated equipment. It also includes a 765 kV double-circuit transmission line across Rajasthan and Haryana, along with several 400 kV double-circuit transmission lines spanning Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana. Additional bay extension works will be carried out at existing substations in Haryana and Punjab to support these new transmission lines.
