CEA approves uniform protection protocal for users of Indian Grid across India

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has approved the uniform protection protocol for users of the Indian Grid, developed by the National Power Committee in consultation with Regional Power Committees.

The protocol aims to ensure grid stability, reliability, and security by coordinating the protection systems across regional and state-level entities, generating companies, and transmission licensees connected at 220 kV (132 kV for the North Eastern Region) and above. It outlines protection requirements for various power systems, including thermal and hydro units, renewable energy installations, battery storage systems, substations, transmission lines, and high voltage direct current terminals, while incorporating guidelines for disturbance monitoring, audits, and compliance tracking.
