Voltalia and TAQA Arabia, have signed a memorandum of understanding with Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity to repower the Zafarana wind farms.
This partnership aims to revitalise the 545 MW wind farm which was originally commissioned by the Egyptian Government two decades ago. Furthermore, this partnership will implement a 3 GW hybrid solution combining 1.1 GW of wind power and 2.1 GW of solar power. The first commissioning of the project is expected in 2028. Additionally, technical and environmental studies for the project will be conducted to measure wind speeds, solar irradiation, bird migration, and site conditions.
