REC Power Distribution Company Limited (RECPDCL) has incorporated two special purpose vehicles (SPVs), Kurnool-IV Transmission Limited and Mahan Transmission Limited, for the development of transmission projects in Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
Kurnool-IV Transmission Limited will oversee the integration of the Kurnool-IV Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) – Phase-I for 4.5 GW, while Mahan Transmission Limited will manage the evacuation of 1,230 MW of power through the state transmission utility network from the proposed 2×800 MW thermal power project of Mahan Energen Limited. RECPDCL has been appointed as the bid process coordinator for selecting transmission service providers for these projects through a tariff-based competitive bidding process.
