The Ministry of Coal has signed agreements for three fully explored coal blocks, bringing the total auctioned to 104 since the launch of commercial coal mining.
Meenakshi and Rampia & Dip Side of Rampia were awarded to Hindalco Industries and Jhar Mineral Resources, respectively, with expected annual revenue of Rs 2.71 billion, investments of Rs 4.05 billion, and at a peak rate capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). On Day 2 of the 10th round of auctions, Bundu in Jharkhand and Gare Palma IV-5 in Chhattisgarh were awarded to S M Steels and Sarda Energy. With reserves of 180.26 million tonnes and a combined peak rate capacity of 2.10 mtpa, they are projected to generate Rs 0.34 billion in revenue and Rs 0.32 billion in investments.
