Hitachi Energy and BHEL receive NoA for Khavda-Nagpur HVDC project from Powergrid

Hitachi Energy India Limited, in partnership with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), has received a notification of award (NoA) from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) through a tariff-based competitive bidding process.
The contract involves designing and executing a ±800 kV, 6,000 MW bi-pole and bi-directional high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission link. This system will transfer renewable energy from the Khavda Renewable Energy Zone in Gujarat to Nagpur in Maharashtra under Phase-V.

The project will cover a distance of 1,200 km and integrate with India’s 500 GW renewable energy evacuation and interstate transmission system. Hitachi Energy will deliver converter transformers, alternating current/direct current control systems, gas-insulated switchgear, and other auxiliary systems, while BHEL will support with related execution. The project is domestic and is expected to be completed over multiple years.
