REC Limited has introduced a guidance framework to streamline vendor operations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojna, aiming to ensure smooth implementation of the rooftop solar programme.
Appointed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) as the national registering authority and lead implementing agency, REC has set clear requirements for vendors. During registration, vendors must provide accurate and complete information, as any false details will result in application rejection. The vendors are responsible for ensuring that all rooftop solar systems comply with the minimum technical specifications and quality standards established by the MNRE. The distribution companies will verify these systems during inspections. Further, the vendors should avoid delays in installation and conduct safety checks before handing over systems to consumers. Additionally, they must communicate pricing clearly, including all charges, taxes, and fees, with no hidden costs.
