The Ministry of Coal has announced the selected applicants under Category I and Category III of its Financial Incentive Scheme for coal gasification, a key step towards advancing India’s coal gasification vision.
Under Category I, which supports government public sector undertakings (PSUs) and joint ventures of government PSUs, the selected applicants are Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited, Coal India Limited (CIL), and the CIL–GAIL Consortium. For Category III, which promotes demonstration projects and small-scale product-based plants, the selected applicant is New Era Cleantech Solution Private Limited. The scheme, with a total financial outlay of Rs 85 billion approved by the Cabinet, aims to promote coal and lignite gasification projects under three categories.
