NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has commenced the commercial operations of the first unit of its 3×660 MW Ghatampur thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh.
The project is developed through Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited, a joint venture with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited.
This marks NLCIL’s first foray into supercritical power generation technology.
Further, the 660 MW capacity addition is the first fossil fuel-based thermal power plant commissioned in India this financial year.
