The Mizoram government has launched a rooftop solar scheme under the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM-SGMBY).
The scheme is exclusively available to Indian citizens who are electricity consumers with good payment histories and applies only to private residential properties. To facilitate installations, Mizoram has partnered with 12 authorised vendors in collaboration with the state government. Financial assistance is offered through national banks such as the State Bank of India and Mizoram Rural Bank. Installation costs are fixed at Rs 12,000 within Aizawl Municipal Corporation limits and Rs 18,000 for locations 200 km beyond AMC boundaries.
