Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) has been declared the successful bidder under the tariff-based competitive bidding process to establish two inter-state transmission system (ISTS) projects on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis.
The first project involves a 400 kV transmission line for the evacuation of power from Kudankulam nuclear power plant Units 3 and 4 (2×1000 MW) to Tuticorin-II, traversing Tamil Nadu, along with terminal equipment at Tuticorin-II Substation. The second project focuses on system strengthening at Koppal-II and Gadag-II for integrating renewable energy generation projects, comprising a 400 kV transmission line between these locations in Karnataka and the augmentation of transformation capacity at the substations under construction at Koppal-II and Gadag-II.
