AMEA Power in partnership with Trinasolar and Energy China is poised to boost Egypt’s renewable energy potential by incorporating a 300 MWh battery energy storage systems at the 500 MW Abydos solar power plant in Aswan.
The Abydos project will employ Trinasolar’s Elementa 2 platform, which features advanced lithium iron phosphate battery technology for improved safety, thermal efficiency, and reduced maintenance. This venture also represents the company’s inaugural energy storage deployment in the Middle East and Africa. The Abydos initiative not only strengthens grid resilience, but also aligns with Egypt’s broader vision of expanding renewable energy capacity, with additional large-scale projects like the upcoming 1 GW solar plant in Benban.
