Sasan Power repays USD150 million to IIFCL

Sasan Power Limited, a subsidiary of Reliance Power Limited, has repaid USD150 million to
India Infrastructure Finance (UK) Company Limited (IIFCL) to settle its debt.

This repayment will bolster Sasan Power’s debt coverage metrics, improve liquidity, and enhance its credit rating. Sasan Power operates the 3,960 MW ultra mega power plant in Sasan, Madhya Pradesh, the world’s largest integrated coal-based power plant. The plant includes a captive coal mining capacity of 20 million tonne per annum and supplies electricity to 14 distribution companies across seven states—Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and New Delhi—at a competitive tariff of Rs 1.54 per unit. This repayment also reinforces Reliance Power’s financial stability as it shifts focus toward renewable energy.
