Sri Lanka’s state-owned power utility, Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), has announced the successful connection of the newly constructed 132 kV Wagawatta substation to the national grid.
The 90 MVA substation, located on a five acre land donated by the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BoI), houses two 45 MVA, 132/33 kV power transformers. It is designed to supply electricity to the BOI-managed Wagawatta and Millaniya industrial zones, enhancing the reliability of power for existing industries and supporting future industrial developments. The substation was designed, constructed, and commissioned by the transmission construction projects branch, utilising the expertise of its engineers, superintendents, and field staff.
