The Ministry of Coal has opened bids for the 11th round of commercial coal mine auctions, receiving bids for 20 out of the 27 coal blocks on offer.
A total of 65 bids were received against 15 coal mines in this round. The second attempt of the 10th round saw five bids for five coal mines, with each mine receiving a single bid. The auction process involved decrypting online bids in the presence of bidders, followed by the opening of sealed offline bid documents. A total of 70 bids were submitted online, while 72 were received in physical form. A total of 46 companies have participated in the process, including over 15 new bidders, among which is a subsidiary of Coal India Limited. The bids will now be evaluated by a multi-disciplinary Technical Evaluation Committee, and technically qualified bidders will proceed to the electronic auction on the MSTC portal.
