Tata Power signs MoU with Assam government for 5,000 MW renewable energy projects

Tata Power has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Assam government to develop up to 5,000 MW of renewable and clean energy projects, including solar, wind, hydro, and energy storage, with an investment of Rs 300 billion over the next five years.

As part of the agreement, the Assam government will facilitate the identification and allocation of approximately 20,000 acres of encumbrance-free government land on a lease basis and assist in acquiring private land for project development. The state will also support infrastructure development to ensure seamless transmission connectivity and promote renewable energy parks through state agencies. Additionally, the initiative will enable industries and tea gardens to access clean energy under Assam’s land allotment and industrial policies through group captive sites. The government has committed to providing single-window clearances for statutory approvals, financial incentives, and collaboration with research institutions for innovation in the renewable sector.
