Tata Power partners with Amazon Web Services for smarter and greener energy solutions

Tata Power has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to modernise its digital infrastructure and support India’s transition to a smarter and more sustainable energy system. Under this collaboration, Tata Power is using cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI) and the internet of things (IoT) to improve grid reliability, enhance operational efficiency and provide better services to consumers. The company has migrated 23 critical applications to AWS using Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service for improved scalability and security. Additionally, it has adopted AWS Step Functions to automate energy transactions and grid operations based on real-time demand. Tata Power has built two data lakes on AWS for power generation and renewables, which collect real-time data from solar farms, wind assets, smart meters and IoT devices. Using AWS Glue, this data is processed and stored in Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) to enable AI-powered analytics for predictive maintenance, grid optimisation and demand forecasting.
