Wärtsilä has launched the 46TS engine, designed to support renewable energy and provide efficient baseload power. Based on the Wärtsilä 50 engine platform, it offers over 51 per cent efficiency, generating 23.4 MW per unit, reducing fuel use and emissions. The engine can quickly ramp up in two minutes and has no minimum up- or downtime requirements. It is built to run on sustainable fuels when available, helping in the transition to renewable power. Wärtsilä also offers services to ensure reliability and performance. The 46TS will be available in 2025, with the first order placed by Kazakhstan Caspian Offshore Industries for a 120 MW hybrid power plant.
