Juniper Green Energy has commissioned a 100 MW solar project to facilitate cross-border electricity supply to Bhutan. The project marks the company’s first merchant plant and enables Bhutan to directly import power from an Indian generator under a bilateral trade framework. As part of the agreement, 50 percent of the power generated will be supplied to Bhutan during the winter months.
This development strengthens regional energy cooperation, promoting sustainability and energy security across South Asia by leveraging the geographic diversity of renewable energy sources.
