Powergrid acquires Chitradurga Bellary REZ and Fatehgarh II–Barmer I PS Transmission

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) has acquired two special purpose vehicles (SPVs) Chitradurga Bellary REZ Transmission Limited and Fatehgarh II and Barmer I PS Transmission Limited through the tariff-based competitive bidding route for transmission development on a build, own, operate, and transfer basis.

Chitradurga Bellary REZ was acquired on March 21, 2025, to implement the “Transmission Scheme for integration of Davanagere / Chitradurga REZ and Bellary REZ in Karnataka.” The project includes the establishment of new 765/400/220 kV pooling substations near Davangere/Chitradurga and a 400/220 kV pooling substation near Bellary, 765 kV & 400 kV double-circuit transmission lines, and upgradation works on existing sub-stations and transmission lines across Karnataka. Powergrid also acquired Fatehgarh II and Barmer I PS for the “Augmentation at Fatehgarh-II PS, Fatehgarh-IV PS (Sec-II) and Barmer-I PS” project. The project involves ICT augmentation works at existing and under-construction substations in the state of Rajasthan. Both acquisitions were facilitated by PFC Consulting Limited as the bid process coordinator.
