REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) has transferred two special purpose vehicles: Kurnool-IV Transmission Limited and Rajasthan V Power Transmission Limited to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) through a tariff-based competitive bidding process.
The transmission projects aim to strengthen the inter-state transmission system by augmenting capacity and establishing new infrastructure across Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan. The Kurnool-IV project includes the establishment of a 765/400 kV and 400/220 kV pooling station in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, and construction of over 500 km of 765 kV transmission lines. The Rajasthan V project focuses on the evacuation of 4 GW of power from Sirohi and Merta-II pooling substations in Rajasthan. All three projects are to be developed on a build, own, operate and transfer basis, with a scheduled implementation period of 24 months.
